Overview
Truck bed covers can be categorized into two main types: soft covers and hard covers. Soft covers are typically made from industrial-strength vinyl or heavy-duty canvas, offering a seamless and lightweight option.
In contrast, hard covers use rigid materials like aluminum, providing enhanced security for tools and valuables. Soft covers are generally lighter and more affordable but offer less security compared to their hard cover counterparts.
Soft Top Covers
Soft covers can be further categorized into two types: roll-up covers and folding covers. Roll-up covers provide full access to the truck bed and are designed for ease of use. Typically opening from the rear and rolling up towards the front like a carpet, these covers are ideal for everyday use such as keeping groceries dry and securing basic cargo. They also allow for driving with the cover fully open, making them convenient for transporting ATVs and other recreational gear.
On the other hand, folding covers are constructed with a heavy-duty, leather-grained vinyl stretched over a framework that allows them to fold up in sections. While they are among the simplest to use and remove, folding covers usually fold into three sections, blocking the front third of the bed when in the folded position. However, if full bed access is needed, these covers can be easily removed.
